"The PANWM network has been instrumental to the success of the Living Well portfolio. In particular, it has provided a fantastic resource in terms of planning the work, providing up to date data and information, help with bid writing and formulating the evaluation framework. It has also been a major network in the dissemination of Living Well information and has directly supported and helped us organise some of the major Living Well events. Also of great value to us has been the support and help with raising the profile of individual projects in our portfolio, both by using them as case studies as part of their ongoing work and giving projects a platform to explain their work to relevant audiences. I think this network is an invaluable asset to the West Midlands."
Zena Lynch, Director, Living Well in the West Midlands
“My involvement with the West Midlands Physical Activity Network in recent years has been very fruitful for my work in Disability Sport. As the Regional Development Manager for the English Federation of Disability Sport, I am continuing to strive to find ways through which disabled people can become more active and to move from being active to ‘sporty’.
The Physical Activity Network (PAN) has assisted me in many ways to achieve some of my goals. For instance; within all the organised workshops there is an element of inclusion considered and referred to. Conferences have been focused on the needs of individuals to become more active, but the delivery of the conferences have continued to ensure that an element of disability activities and sports have been integrated into the agenda.
I also find that the staff of PAN have a genuine interest in all sectors of the community and will consult with me about a plethora of issues, or just run and idea past me for an opinion. This again enables me to both feel part of their programme but also to be in a position to influence this. I also receive consistent and regular information about the whole sector from PAN, which again enables me to have choice over my selection and involvement. This information trail and regular updates is imperative to keep alive our work in this sector”
